- In 1968 Congress passed a Uniform Monday Holiday Act which moved date from February 22nd to the third Monday in February
- Late 1960's many americans started refering to it as "President's Day" rather than the previous name, "Washington's Birthday"

- Celebrations were very common on this day and included things like balls, large military parades, and public Celebrations
- In 1839 President Martin VanBuren celbreated with a large parades and the reading of George Washington's farewell address
- In 1837 Andrew Jackson had a public reception at the White House also present was a 1400 pound cheese wheel which was shared with guests

- President' Day was first created to honor George Washington as the United States First President
- At the beginning only Washingotn DC employees were obligated to a day off while the rest of the country continued to work
- Soon after they added Lincoln to the day as him and Washington had birthday's in February
- Three years later they offically proclaimed it the day for all the current as well as former US President's
